Let’s connect on Bluesky
Do you remember Twitter? I bet you do. One of the oldest and most popular social medias was lucky (or not?) to be sold to Mr. Musk and is now turned to X.
Have you heard about Bluesky?
You probably haven’t. Up until recently it was an invitation only social network, which is now open to everyone and it’s even more trending than TikTok. It’s just few days since I registered on Bluesky, however, I already followed the accounts of some international and EU organisations. That means that this network is credible, and in a way I’d say anticipated given what the Twitter to X transition caused to companies throughout the world.
What’s the story behind Bluesky?
It’s an open social network build on AT protocol, “designed not to be controlled by a single company”. The project was started by Jack Dorcey back in 2019. Since 2021 it became independent. The current users database amount to more than 13 million. I personally like the vision of Bluesky’s CEO to make “social media fun again”.
My experience with Bluesky
I’m quite fascinated by how easy and open the network is. It definitely echoes Twitter’s experience from a decade ago. I was also happy to find lots of journalists’ and online newspaper handles, as well as a handful of Comms people from European and International organisations. I’m still about to see the pros and cons of Bluesky but for know it seems promising and will probably gain momentum this year as X succeeded in turning away lots of users.
